New Directions - Adapting to Current Public Health Needs - 2005-2010

Dear Stakeholder,

Many of you attended our Radiological Health Stakeholder meeting on October 31 and November 1, 2005 in Gaithersburg, MD. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for attending and sharing your thoughts about our plan and the current and future needs of radiological health. Your enthusiastic comments and participation will favorably influence the direction we take as we move forward to reach our common goals.

During the first day of the meeting, we reviewed our recent Radiologogical Health plan and stakeholders shared their perspectives about the radiological health area. In the Focused Discussion Sessions held on the second day, CDRH facilitators listened to participants’ opinions regarding the issues, priorities, and opportunities for the radiological health community to collaborate with FDA in the areas of Education, Monitoring and Standards. CDRH facilitators then shared the results of these sessions with everyone at the conclusion of the meeting.

As promised, we are posting a full transcript of the open forum discussion on day one, and the slides from the presentations and the Focus Discussion Sessions. You may also use this website to sign up for notification of future updates. We will use this website extensively as an interactive communication tool and to provide the most current information available on our activities in the radiological health area.

As part of our commitment to making headway in addressing the concerns and issues expressed at the stakeholders’ meeting, we intend to convene an annual meeting to keep the momentum going and provide an opportunity for continued, open dialog. As discussed at the meeting, we will consider holding this annual event in conjunction with other professional meetings, as feasible.
