KCC C++ Compiler "Discontinued" by Intel |

Dear NERSC SP Users,
If you use the KCC C++ Compiler, please note the following:
Kuck & Associates, the source of KCC, was acquired by Intel.
Intel has decided to discontinue the KCC compiler, and sales stopped April 30, 2002.
The full announcement is at the Intel website.
The existing version of the KCC compiler will continue to be available on seaborg,
but there will be no future versions or bug fixes.
If, at some future date, software updates to the AIX environment on seaborg break KCC,
that will be the end of availability.
Users developing or porting C++ codes using KCC should seriously consider
moving to either the IBM Visual Age C++ Compiler or the GNU gcc compiler
at your earliest convenience.
Please see the Web at: http://hpcf.nersc.gov/software/kai/kcc/
for more information and links to the Intel announcement.
Best regards,
Frank Hale
