Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments This message is to express my deep concern about the risks posed by genetically engineered foods. It seems clear that the FDA's proposed rules regarding genetically engineered foods favor the interests of corporate agriculture and the biotechnology industry over the public's right to know about and choose products with acceptable ingredients. Many scientists and an international coalition of governments agree that MORE INFORMATION IS NEEDED. The long-term implications of genetic engineering of crops are NOT KNOWN. It seems arrogant, short-sighted and greedy to alter human food sources, possibly irreversably, without obtaining as much information as humanly possible. Please do not bow to the pressure of corporate agriculture. Please stay committed to those you are sworn to serve: The American public. Do NOT allow corporate farmers to determine whether genetically engineered foods are safe. Strict regulations are required, and the FDA is the agency to do it. We are counting on you.
