Dear Sirs,
This correspondence is to urge you to grant petition 98P-0151/CP1 that would prohibit the slaughter of downed animals.  These animals should obviously NOT be allowed to enter the human food chain.  Removing the market for downed animals safeguards our food source and provides an incentive to industry to prevent downed animals in the first place.  This is such an outrageous practice that anyone would agree it is unacceptable.  Please consider a change in policy across the board.  Thank you.
