My reasons for taking this position are: 1) besides posing an increased risk for bacterial infection, some of these animals may also be afflicted with a strain of BSE; 2) it is not possible to moved these poor creatures humanely; 3) since they make up only a small percentage of slaughtered animals, such prohibition will have minimal financial impact; 4) improved care and handling can easily prevent occurrence of such incidences and will have the added benefit of providing a disincentive for such cruel and unnecessary treatment in the future. Thank you for the time and consideration. Ron Landskroner 4231 Montgomery Street Apt 106 Oakland, CA 94611
