I understand that the Farm Sanctuary has petitioned the FDA to prohibit the 
slaughter of downed animals for human or animal consumption.  Its petition is 
Docket Number 98P-0151/CP1.  I am writing to express my support of this 
petition and to strongly request that you grant the petition.  The sale of 
downed animals for human and animal consumption risks the health of the 
humans/animals consuming the meat and causes unnecessary pain and suffering 
for the downed animals, who would be put down much sooner if they could not 
be sold.  Please grant the Farm Sanctuary's petition as soon as possible.
