From: Sandy Kraegel [s_kraegel@hotmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 03, 2001 2:17 PM To: FDADockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Docket Number 98P-0151/CP1 I am e-mailing to urge you to please grant petition 98P-0151/CP1 to prohibit the slaughter of downed animals. The marketing and slaughter of downed animals is unacceptable for several reasons. Downed animals cannot be moved humanely which results in them typically being pushed with tractors or dragged with chains which results in more injuries and more suffering for these animals. These animals that are too sick or injured to stand should not be allowed to be slaughtered for human consumption- the fact that they are downed means they are sick and/or severely injured which means they are more likely to pass on disease or illness to the consumer. Please be compassionate to both the consumer who is at risk from eating these animals and the animals themselves who suffer terribly by granting this petition. Sincerely, Sandy Kraegel 703 Bellevue Ave. E., #A-21 Seattle, WA 98102 _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
