What's New

ETP Seeks Marketing Partners

ETP is soliciting marketing partners through three Requests for Proposals (RFP):

  1. RFP 44056 - Statewide organization to market ETP program that results in Panel approved job training contracts from manufacturing employers.
  2. RFP 44421 - Statewide organization to market ETP program that results in Panel approved job training contracts supporting joint labor/employer training.
  3. RFP 44420 - Statewide organization to market the ETP program to Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIBs) and provide technical assistance to LWIBs and One-Stop Career Centers relating to the development and administration of resulting multiple employer contracts.
Proposals must be filed by February 9, 2009, 3:00 p.m., in accordance with the instructions contained in each RFP. Questions should be addressed to Karen Sotelo, 916/654-6323 or ksotelo@edd.ca.gov

ETP 83 Process To Be Discontinued

With the Governor's signing of Assembly Bill AB 2570 (which streamlines some Employment Training Panel program requirements), effective 01/01/2009, contractors will no longer be required to submit enrollment certifications for retrainees employed less then 90 days prior to the start of training. (i.e., Form ETP 83). This change will be in effect until further notice.

Pilot Programs

At its October 16th meeting, the Panel implemented two new Pilot Programs:

  1. Veterans Pilot - Addressing the need to serve veterans, this Pilot will assist unemployed veterans entering the workforce and improve their opportunities for advancement in high wage, secure jobs. The Pilot will recruit and train veterans in multiple employer contracts (MECS).
  2. Medical Skills Training Pilot - Addressing the shortage of skilled nurses in California, this Pilot will provide medical skills training to licensed vocational nurses (LVN) and registered nurses (RN) to enhance/upgrade their skills for specialty areas and specialty nursing positions. Training under this Pilot is fundamentally different than training provided under the Panel's current Nurse Training Pilot which focuses on training certified nurse assistants (CNA) to become LVNs.

Trainee Minimum Wage for 2009

The new ETP minimum wages for calendar year 2009 are now available. These wages are effective January 1, 2009.
