The next user group teleconference is this Thursday, January 17, at 9:00
Pacific Time. To attend:
Long Distance users call 1-877-252-5250,
Local users call 510-647-3480,
then press 1, enter 178519# and follow the instructions.
agenda:
(1) discussion of NERSC's SRU algorithm
submitted by Steve Pieper:
"Several months ago it was said that the new access to the archive
was much faster and perhaps the cost of moving files into or out
of the archive could be reduce from the present 10 months of storage.
Is there anything to say for an agenda item? especially with the
warning a week or so ago that purge on scratch might start to really
happen? right now I have absolutely no incentive to remove files
that i have archived."
(2) managing the regular_long queue on seaborg
submitted by Steve Pieper:
"the problem of how many long jobs a user should have"
[Also, how many jobs overall should be allowed to run in this class?]
(3) overall user run limit on seaborg
submitted by Steve Pieper:
"related to that, the limit of 4 running jobs (i think that is
the case now). does this mean the nodes will be left empty if
the only jobs that can be run belong to users with 4 jobs running?
It seems so to me. is this reasonable. i can see skipping over
a 5th job if there is something else in the queue that can be run,
but otherwise running the 5th job.
(4) NUGEX elections
submitted by Horst Simon and Ricky Kendall
The terms of 4 nugex members expired in December (Mike Minkoff, Vincent
Wayland, David Dean, Doug Olson). See:
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/about/NUG/nugex_members.html
(5) Use Access Grid Nodes for future NUG teleconferences
submitted by Bill Kramer
Other agenda itmes can be submitted at the meeting.
