Saba HHS Learning Portal Log On Instructions

This document will assist you in logging onto the HHS Learning Portal.


Step 1: Locate your username.
Step 2: Determine your temporary password.
Step 3: Log in.
Step 4: Review your profile.
Step 5: Enjoy the training tools available to you.

Who to contact for help


Step 1: Locate your username.

Federal Civilian Employees:
Your username is your eight-digit employee ID#. This ID# can be found using the employee ID lookup application you will find on the HHS U web site at https://learning.hhs.gov/employeenumber.asp.


Commissioned Corps Officers:
Your username is your PHS serial number followed by three zeros, e.g. 12345000.This ID# can be found using the employee ID lookup application you will find on the HHS U web site at https://learning.hhs.gov/employeenumber.asp.

Others:
If you had a GeoLearning account, that information has migrated to the new system with the same user ID. Additional contractor and other accounts will be set up in the future.

Step 2: Determine your temporary password.


Your initial password will follow this format:


Examples:
Mary Thomas Mthomas1234
Bob McIntire Rmcintire5678
Beth Johns-Hopkins Ejohns-hopkins0000

The first time you log in, you will have to change this temporary password to one of your own choice. You will see the following screen:

(20845) You are required to change your password the first time you log in.
User Name
Old Password* (Required)
New Password* (Required)
Confirm New Password* (Required)
Secret Question
Secret Answer
Save
Cancel

Click Save to reset your password.

IMPORTANT! Please read the following criteria for creating new passwords.

  1. Passwords should be a minimum of 8 characters.
  2. Passwords should contain at least 1 upper-case character and 1 lower-case character.
  3. Password should contain 1 numeric character or 1 special character.
    Special characters include: # $ % ^ & * , _ ? / ;  :  \ |
  4. Passwords may not include any part of your login id or name.
  5. You may not change your password more frequently than every 24 hours
  6. You may not use your previous 6 passwords.
You should also choose one of the following Secret Questions to which you will create a Secret Answer. You will need to provide this information if you ever forget your password.

Once the necessary information is entered, click Save. You will be reverted back to the Logon page.

FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?

If you have forgotten your password, please follow these steps before contacting the Help Desk:
  1. Click the Forgot Your Password? link on the Logon page. The following information will appear in a pop-up window (ensure that all pop-up blockers are turned off prior to clicking on this link).

    Enter you user name in the field below. Your password will be sent to the email address specified in your account preferences.

  2. Once the required information is entered, click Send Password to have your password emailed to your email address, as it appears in the Learning Portal.

Step 3: Log in.

  1. In your web browser, enter the following URL: http://lms.learning.hhs.gov
  2. Enter your Username and Password in the designated fields (as shown below) and click the Log In button.

Step 4: Review your profile.


When you first log in to the HHS Learning Portal, check your user profile to make sure critical information is correct.

  1. Click on the My Profile tab in the row of gray tabs beneath the HHS logo (My Saba view).
  2. Use the buttons in the left navigation bar to review the following:
    1. My Person Details – it is critical that your correct manager/supervisor is indicated here
    2. My Contact Information – it is critical that your email be correct
    3. My Address
    4. My Job Profile
    Your supervisor and email address can be updated by your OPDIV LMS administrator. Contact HHS University at hhsu_lms@psc.hhs.gov if you need the person's name.

    Other information is being uploaded from the EHRP system. Please contact your HR staff to have it corrected.

    Step 5: Enjoy the training tools available to you.



    There are many tools available to you from the My Saba view of menu options. You can register for online or classroom training, and explore a host of other areas. You can even set your own preferences using the Preferences link in the blue menu bar at the top of the screen.

    Be sure to register for and complete the following online Saba courses:

    • Learning with Saba – for anyone using the system
    • Managing Team Learning – for managers and supervisors
