Annual FIRST Conference on Computer Security Incident Handling

These conferences focus on the issues of incident response and security teams and brings together incident response and security professionals from around the world who share their experiences and expertise.

Security professionals in all areas will find the interaction with incident response teams educational. The presentations are international in scope and include the latest in incident response and prevention, vulnerability analysis, and computer security. These conferences are open to both members and non-members.

The next conference will be held from June 28-July 3, 2009 at the Kyoto (Japan).

FIRST Technical Colloquia on Computer Security Incident Handling

FIRST Technical Colloquia (TCs) provide a discussion forum for FIRST member teams to share information about vulnerabilities, incidents, tools and all other issues that affect the operation of incident response and security teams.

The colloquium as a rule takes one whole day, followed by a day of hands-on classes, where leading security experts sit down with small groups of FIRST team members, and work through technical topics (like forensics) in a highly interactive hands-on fashion.

The colloquia and hands-on classes are hosted by members and are since 2005 organized in a regional basis - the current regions being Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. For each region the goal is to organize one TC per year - either standing on its own, or jointly with regional CSIRT initiatives.

In principle the TC event is restricted to FIRST members only - with joint events there can be a variety of open and members-only meetings.

The next meeting will be held at Riga, Latvia (Jan 19-21).

FIRST Workshops

FIRST/TRANSITS, Train the Trainers (T3) and Joint Law Security are some of the regular workshops applied by FIRST.
