Tuition Assistance Program
SNL may provide tuition assistance to regular full-time or part-time eligible employees who are pursuing courses or degree programs at U.S. accredited institutions or accredited distance learning facilities that will result in college credit. The courses and/or degree field must be job-related or related to positions within SNL that are reasonably attainable by the employee. Classes can be taken in degree or non-degree status. SNL pays tuition directly to the university.
Distance Learning Program
Distance Learning Program (DLP) allows Sandians to take classes at their leisure or on site. Distance learning takes place when an instructor and student(s) are separated by physical distance, and some form of telecommunications technology is used to obtain the education required. Delivery Methods for the DLP are as follows:
- Instructional television (ITV)
- Satellite
- CD-ROM
- Internet
Note: UNM ITV courses are broadcast from a classroom or studio and are interactive-one-way video, two-way audio.
Eligibility
- Full-time regular employees
- Part-time regular employees
- Be on-roll as a full time equivalency for a minimum of one year
Benefits
- Payment of tuition for two courses per semester equivalency
- Up to $3,500 per calendar year for undergraduates
- Up to $6,000 per calendar year for graduates
- Employee selects school to attend from list of key/regional universities established by Sandia. University credit-based courses can be job-related or Sandia career-related, taken in degree or non-degree status.
Requirements
- Courses must be taken outside of working hours on employee’s own time
- A grade of "B" or better must be earned by all students
