The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has received a grant from the African Development Bank (ADB) in various currencies equivalent to UA 20.00 million towards the cost of the Support to the Control of Communicable Diseases Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to eligible payments under the contracts for:

1. Development of Harmonized Minimum Standards for the Prevention, Treatment and Management of Tuberculosis & Malaria; and
2. Strengthening the Availability and Access to Medicines and Commodities.

Erection of about 53 km of game-proof fence around the perimeter of ‘Old Lengwe’, which comprises approximately 80 km² of the combined total of 900 km² of the Lengwe National Park, Lower Shire Valley, Malawi.

The SADC Secretariat will be moving to its new Head Quarters(HQ) building in June 2009 where multimode fibre optic(MMF) backbone cabling as well as Category 6 (Cat6) copper network cabling will be used as the network transport media.

The planned service offerings at the new HQ building will be based on the convergence of data, voice and video traffic. The core services will be run from the SADC HQ and there will be two main remote sites that will be connected through Multi-Protocol Layer Switching(MPLS) facility from the incumbent operator in Botswana. Wireless connection will be used as back up and is part of this procurement exercise.

In this context, there is need to procure network and communication equipment capable of offering the converged network application services. For further details, please see the attached document.
