Elliott Bay Water Taxi
A service of the King County Ferry District

Open house on plans for Elliott Bay water taxi, dock

Seattle Parks and Recreation, King County Ferry District and the King County Marine Division will hold an open house next week to get public input on plans for the year-round Elliott Bay Water Taxi service, including replacing the dock at Seacrest Park.

The open house will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Alki Community Center at 5817 S.W. Stevens St.

Year-round water taxi service between West Seattle and downtown is slated to begin in 2010, and will operate from Seacrest until a permanent site is selected. The taxi service is part of a larger initiative to increase passenger-only ferry service.

Plans for Seacrest include building a wider, longer gangway to meet accessibility guidelines. Wood floats would be replaced with concrete and the new docking area would be oriented to keep the boat away from the diving area. Visit the King County Ferry District for more information.
