Aims and Objectives
European Science and Technology Week sets out to show there is more to science than test tubes and Bunsen burners. The emphasis is on promoting lively projects and activities to capture the imagination and show how science - its impacts, uses and applications - is relevant to all Europeans regardless of age, background and education.
Science Week projects usually involve teams working together across the EU Member and Associated States, hosting events in a number of different locations. Through the various events organised, people from across Europe come together to share experiences, debate issues and enjoy demonstrations and performances.
Get involved in Science Week
The European Commission invites individuals or organisations Europe-wide, from science and research institutes to science museums and education centres, to participate in European Science Week by setting up projects to spread the word about science.
Possible activities could include open days, science events for children, special exhibitions, workshops or lectures, interactive websites, dance and theatre performances, and so on. If approved, projects may use the official Science Week logo, posters and material. They will also receive visibility on the Science Week website. Could your organisation get involved?
Two key ingredients for Science Week projects
Pan-European emphasis, but regional and/or national implementation, of activities (for example, collaborative projects and competitions, science exhibitions,...) European events or activities whose potential can be better developed on a trans-national level.
