Data Analysis Technology

The following table lists and briefly describes data analysis applications installed on NERSC systems. Links to NERSC systems are available from the High Performance Computing Resources page. Each NERSC system page has a link to the software installed on that system.

Note that different versions of an application may be installed on the same system or on different systems. For complete platform and version information, see the NERSC resource pages for software applications for Mathematics (Maple, Mathematical, MATLAB), Programming (GSL, Perl, Python, and Tcl/Tk), and Visualization (IDL). These pages also indicate whether you will need to load the application using the module command. If you have questions about the applications listed below, please send email to consult@nersc.gov.

NERSC Tools for Data Analysis

ApplicationPlatformsDescriptionDocs
gsl  franklin, pdsf  GSL provides a well-defined C language Applications Programming Interface (API) for common numerical functions, while allowing wrappers to be written for very high level languages.    Vendor
idl  bassi, davinci, franklin, jacquard, seaborg  IDL is a complete computing environment for the interactive analysis and visualization of data.   NERSCVendor
mathematica  davinci, jacquard  Mathematica is a fully integrated environment for technical computing. Performs symbolic manipulation of equations, integrals, differential equations and almost any mathematical expression. Numeric results can be evaluated also.   NERSCVendor
matlab  davinci, jacquard  MATLAB is an integrated technical computing environment that combines numeric computation, advanced graphics and visualization, and a high-level programming language   NERSCVendor
perl  bassi, davinci, franklin, jacquard  Perl is an interactive programming and scripting language.   NERSCVendor
