Subject: New limits on interactive and debug jobs
Author: David Turner <dpturner_at_lbl.gov>
Date: 2004-03-29 10:00:54
Greetings NERSC SP User, Beginning next Monday, April 5, NERSC will begin enforcing the following new policy on interactive and debug jobs on our IBM SP: The combined number of debug and interactive jobs that a user may have submitted or running at a given time must be two or fewer. Note that this policy only applies to jobs run in the interactive and debug batch classes. This includes parallel jobs (anything compiled with one of the "mp" compilers, e.g. mpxlf90) that are executed from the command line, as well as those jobs (parallel or otherwise) that are explicitly submitted to these two classes with the "llsubmit" command. The policy has NO effect on sequential programs executed from the command line, including all the normal Unix commands. This change is being made as a result of user requests, and we hope it will provide more equitable access to our interactive resources. It was discussed and approved during the NERSC User Group (NUG) teleconference of March 25. If you have any comments regarding this change, please send email to: consult@nersc.gov -- Best regards, David Turner User Services Group email: dpturner@lbl.gov NERSC Division phone: (510) 486-4027 Lawrence Berkeley Lab fax: (510) 486-4316
