Subject:	IDL 6.0 beta available on Escher

Dear NERSC users, A beta version of IDL version 6.0 is now available on Escher. The current default version, 5.6, will remain as the default version. To access the idl 6.0 beta version use: "module load idl/6.0beta". This version is running a demonstration license. It is a fully functional license, allowing full usage of the product with no timeout restrictions, however no support for mpegs is available. When the final release of IDL 6.0 becomes available, mpeg functionality will be enabled. There is no documentation available for the 6.0 release yet. This beta version is being made available in conjunction with a presentation entitled, "What's new in IDL 6.0" to be presented on June 23, 2003 via the Access Grid.
