Computer & Network Security R&D

The Computer & Network Security department is responsible for Sandia California's network security operations (wired and wireless), the network security architecture, the Center for Cyber Defenders (CCD) program, and information security research. As part of a site-wide Information Operations (IO) initiative, the department performs vulnerability analyses of networks and networked systems, provides operational support for third parties, and develops prototype systems for combating terrorism.

Current research includes advanced Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), wireless network security, network deception technologies, network traffic analysis, and building security functions into reconfigurable hardware.

Computer and network security operations include vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, incident response, computer and network forensics, counterintelligence technical support, and consulting services to other organizations with information security concerns
