2007 INCITE Projects

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science awarded 45 projects a total of 95 million hours of computing time on some of the world's most powerful supercomputers as part of its 2007 Innovative and Novel Computational Impact on Theory and Experiment (INCITE) program.

Seven of the projects will receive a total of 8.8 million hours of computing time at NERSC:

• Paul Bemis: CAE Simulation of Full Vehicle Wind Noise and other CFD Phenomena
• Gil Compo: The 20th Century Reanalysis Project
• Hong Im: Direct Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Flame Quenching by Fine Water Droplets
• Don Lamb: Study of the Gravitationally Confined Detonation Mechanism for Type Ia Supernovae
• Warren Mori: Petascale Particle-in-Cell Simulations of Plasma Based Accelerators
• Larry Pratt: Reactions of lithium carbenoids, lithium enolates, and mixed aggregates
• Chuang Ren: Three-Dimensional Particle-in-Cell Simulations for Fast Ignition
