Special Event: Inaugural Membership Event: NAACP Welcome Center

The NAACP will be hosting a "NAACP Member Welcome Center" at the Lansburgh Theatre located at 450 7th St. N.W. in downtown Washington, D.C., on Sunday, January 18th and Monday January 19th, preceding the formal Inauguration events on January. 20th.

The center will serve as a gathering place for members traveling from out of town and will feature various activities, including a worship service, oral history tapings, a panel discussion and a spoken word performance. Members are encouraged to attend and admission is free.

Nominees for 40th NAACP Image Awards Announced

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., (January 7, 2009) -- The 40th NAACP Image Awards nominees were announced today during a press conference at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. Corbin Bleu, Audra McDonald, Keke Palmer, Nate Parker and Regina Taylor joined NAACP Image Awards Committee Chair, Clayola Brown, and Vicangelo Bulluck, Executive Producer of the telecast, to announce the categories and nominees. The 40th NAACP Image Awards will air live on Thursday, February 12 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT Tape-delayed) on FOX.
