Friend of the Court Bureau
The Friend of the Court Bureau (FOCB) was established
to provide circuit courts across the state with management assistance in operating
local friend of the court (FOC) offices, including development of local policies
and procedures. >>
Click here for information on local friend of the court duties.
The primary functions of the Bureau are to:
- facilitate development of local policies and procedures
- establish
and implement child support policy and guidelines
- develop and publish
information pamphlets for public use
- collect and analyze data regarding
friend of the court operations
- provide training
- work with the Office of Child Support in the Department of Human
Services
to analyze
federal and state legislation and to establish policy
Primary
services include: management assistance, training and orientation materials
for new friend of the court administrators, and publication of annual report of friend of the court operations.
Information About Your Friend of the Court Case:
The Friend of the Court Bureau does not have access to your friend of the
court records. The
quickest and easiest way for you to get information about your friend of the court case is to call your friend of the
court office and use the interactive voice response (IVR) system. The friend of the
court IVR numbers can be viewed at: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/FIA-IVR-Phone-Numbers_94093_7.pdf.
If you want payment information, the IVR will allow you to speak to a State Disbursement
Unit customer service representative. The IVR will also provide you with information
about enforcement action, coupons, and how to provide an address or name change. Because
many of the counties share the same IVR number, you may need to type in the first three
letters of the county that has your friend of the court case.
