Overview

Description

The Lederman Fellowship was created with the goal of attracting at Fermilab Postdoctoral candidates who have demonstrated outstanding ability in research and who in addition have a strong interest in education and outreach. Appointments are awarded on a competitive basis from among the applicants for first Postdoctoral appointments in experimental physics at Fermilab. Lederman Fellows have a choice among experiments, which include Tevatron and LHC collider experiments, neutrino experiments, other fixed target experiments and astroparticle physics experiments, or research on accelerators. In recognition of Leon M. Lederman's commitment to the teaching of physics at all levels, Fellows participate in the "Saturday Morning Physics" program or an equivalent educational or outreach program.

Eligibilty

Candidates must either:

  • Have obtained a Ph.D. in experimental particle or accelerator physics after approximately a year before the deadline for accepting applications.

or

  • Are expected to obtain a Ph.D. in experimental particle or accelerator physics within approximately six months from the deadline for accepting applications.

Details will be specified in the Advertisement when a new opening becomes available.
