Transferring to Alfred State is one very smart move.
We'll help make your transition as smooth as possible. And there are a lot of ways for you to fit in, both academically and socially. Not to mention all the sport teams and intramural athletics.
We're looking forward to seeing you here, or check our Visits in Your Area page to see if our counselors are attending a college fair, transfer fair, or other event near you.
Our bachelor level programs have all been specifically tailored for transfers.
Under the coordination of the Transfer Adviser, courses that can be applied toward graduation requirements at Alfred State College will be reviewed for transfer approval by the department chair in which the course resides. Only those equivalent courses passed with a "C" or above can be given transfer credit.
Preliminary credit evaluations are emailed to student's Alfred State e-mail account after admissions decisions are made. If you have any other questions, please contact:

Yes, designated singles are available in the MacKenzie Complex, Getman, and R/C Halls, and in our new townhouse complex on a first-come, first-served basis. The opportunity to have a single room is very slim, especially for freshmen. Residency in the townhouses is limited to continuing/returning students.
Based on observations, freshmen generally have a more positive experience when they have a roommate. There is an additional cost for singles. To be put on the list, you need to check the "single room" option when completing your online Residence Hall Preference Survey.
Yes, full-time, matriculated students can cross register for courses at certain participating colleges for courses not available at Alfred State College. Cross registration is only allowed for the fall and spring semesters. Tuition is not assessed but students must pay any fees required by the visited school.
In many cases, yes you can. You will be expected to provide an official transcript from any college(s) you have previously attended. This transcript will be evaluated by personnel from the Office of Transfer Services and academic department chairs as appropriate. You will be provided information on what credits will transfer. You can also look at our online Transfer Manual.
