WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
March was Women's History Month and
the Sandia History Program was involved in two exhibits
celebrating women's achievements. We provided several
older photos for the National Atomic Museum's exhibit
focusing on women in science and technology. Shelley
Renee and Tom Salazar of the Museum organized the
exhibit, which was up until the end of March. They
will be producing a new, and probably larger, exhibit
for Women's History Month next year. If you are interested
in contributing to that effort in any way (ideas,
photographs, funding, etc.), please contact Tom Salazar
at the Museum at 284-3228.
The History Program's exhibit, "A Woman's
Place is Where She Wants to Be: A History of Women
at Sandia," is on display at the new west side branch
of the Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union. It
was up in time for Women's History Month and the branch's
grand opening; it may be viewed until the end of April.
The exhibit contains photographs of women in a variety
of jobs at Sandia over the years. If you have any
questions or suggestions pertaining to this exhibit,
please contact Rebecca Ullrich at 844-1483.
