The two awards were Best of Show and the Talavai Award of Distinguished Technical Communication in Technical Publications. The team consisted of artistic designer Jan Gaunce; editors Carl Mora, John Taylor, and Rebecca Ullrich; and photo editor Myra O'Canna. Jan also won two individual international awards: an Award of Merit in Technical Publications, Book category; and an Award of Achievement in Technical Art, Manual Book Design category.

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

March was Women's History Month and the Sandia History Program was involved in two exhibits celebrating women's achievements. We provided several older photos for the National Atomic Museum's exhibit focusing on women in science and technology. Shelley Renee and Tom Salazar of the Museum organized the exhibit, which was up until the end of March. They will be producing a new, and probably larger, exhibit for Women's History Month next year. If you are interested in contributing to that effort in any way (ideas, photographs, funding, etc.), please contact Tom Salazar at the Museum at 284-3228.

The History Program's exhibit, "A Woman's Place is Where She Wants to Be: A History of Women at Sandia," is on display at the new west side branch of the Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union. It was up in time for Women's History Month and the branch's grand opening; it may be viewed until the end of April. The exhibit contains photographs of women in a variety of jobs at Sandia over the years. If you have any questions or suggestions pertaining to this exhibit, please contact Rebecca Ullrich at 844-1483.

PAPERS AND ARTICLES

Corporate Historian Carl J. Mora will present a poster exhibit and paper entitled "We Crash, Burn, and Crush: A History of Packaging at Sandia National Laboratories, 1978-1997", coauthored by Paul E.
