Robotic Manufacturing Science and Engineering Lab
Sandia National Laboratories’ Robotic Manufacturing Science and Engineering Laboratory (RMSEL) is a 73,000 square foot facility for use by the Intelligent Systems and Robotics Center (ISRC). The structure was built by DOE-DP to bring together all of Sandia’s robotics researchers in an environment conducive to Tech Transfer.
Related facilities include a 206-acre mobile robot test range and two high bay facilities large enough to accommodate virtually any system integration or prototyping effort.
The ISRC works in diverse application areas:
- Electromechanical medical devices
- Mechatronic technology for oil & gas pipeline inspection
- Inspection and assessment of physical infrastructure
- Automated landmine detection and removal
- Small lot flexible automation and materials handling
- Reducing time and cost of hazardous waste site cleanup while increasing worker safety
- Improving soldier effectiveness in battlefield operations
- Autonomous vehicle controls and collective behavior technology
- Automated material handling systems, used in conventional and nuclear weapons
- Flexible automated assembly and disassembly systems
- Complex systems simulation and analysis
