Internships

The intern would assist the NEH Chairman’s Office and "We the People" program on a variety of important projects through research, writing, assistance with meetings, and general information gathering vital to the successful implementation of the programs. The intern should be a college student, preferably post-BA/BS attending graduate school with a focus on history or the humanities; should have strong inter-personal skills, be able to work independently, and be able to contribute 20-30 hours per week.

Duties may include:

  • Performing research, either at NEH or other locations such as the Library of Congress, the National Archives, on various topics relating to the Chairman's special initiatives.
  • Synthesizing information and assisting with written reports or briefing materials to be used by senior staff as they plan the implementation of these programs.
  • Assisting the Chairman’s Office and “We the People” staff in the planning of meetings with scholars, government agencies, and outside organizations, by compiling relevant background research.
  • Working closely with senior staff on other day-to-day tasks, as assigned.
