Development is a primary research journal that aims to publish fundamental insights into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of animal and plant development. Studies can address any aspect of the developmental process, including evolutionary studies, stem cells and nuclear reprogramming, regional specification, morphogenesis and organogenesis. We also welcome developmental studies into the aetiology of disease. The main criterion for acceptance is that a paper should provide new perspectives and approaches to understanding development. Experimental papers will be given the highest priority, although manuscripts that are entirely theoretical or descriptive will be considered if they provide the necessary novel insights into developmental mechanisms.

Development is published twice monthly (24 issues/year).
