The R&D programs at Sandia/California encompass many different scientific disciplines and are spread out among several facilities equipped with state-of-the-art research tools and instruments. However, the talented staff in each of our programs share a common goal: providing exceptional service in the national interest by developing and applying advanced technology to secure a peaceful and free world.
More specifically, Sandia has five core mission areas — energy and infrastructure assurance, homeland security, defense systems and assessments, nuclear weapons, and nonproliferation. Each one is fully supported and advanced through our science, technology, and engineering R&D.
