January is National Radon Action Month
EPA has designated January as National Radon Action Month, a time when state radon programs and other partners conduct special radon outreach activities and events across the country. The aim of National Radon Action Month is to increase the public's awareness of radon, promote radon testing and mitigation, and advance the use of new radon-resistant construction practices. Radon is an invisible, odorless and tasteless gas, and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in America, claiming about 20,000 lives annually. Final Decision on Missouri's Impaired Waters List
(Kansas City, Kan., Jan. 16, 2009) - EPA has released its final decision on Missouri's 2004/2006 list of impaired waters. This decision will help the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) set priorities for restoration activities to improve water quality in the coming years. News Release
Macy, Neb., Public Water System Now Under Partial Boil Order
(Kansas City, Kan., Jan. 16, 2009) - EPA Region 7 has directed the Omaha Macy Public Water System, located on the Omaha Tribe Reservation in Thurston County, Neb., to partially lift a boil order issued January 7, 2009. A partial boil order remains in effect for an estimated 20 households generally situated along 33rd Road and south of Macy on U.S. Highway 75. News Release
Administrative Action Directs Public Water System in Macy, Neb., to Issue Boil Order for Drinking Water
(Kansas City, Kan., Jan. 7, 2009) - EPA Region 7 has issued an emergency administrative notice to the Omaha Macy Public Water System, located on the Omaha Tribe Reservation in Thurston County, Neb., directing the water system to issue an order advising its customers to boil their water until further notice. Public Comment Period Extended for Omaha Lead Site
