The DOE Patent Database Advanced Search provides for field searching and for formulating complex queries. A simple search can be performed by selecting a single field and submitting the query. A complex query can be formulated by selecting multiple fields and connecting them with the Boolean operators AND, OR, or NOT.
The drop-down menus of standardized values are available for some fields. To search for an exact phrase, use double quotes around the phrase you enter in the query box.
You may sort your search results by Relevance, Publication Date, System Entry Date, Resource/Document Type, Title, Research Organization, Sponsoring Organization, or OSTI Identifier.
To use the sort feature, click on the drop-down arrow to highlight the field you wish to sort by. Then select either ascending or descending and initiate your search. For nonnumerical data, ascending provides results in alphabetical order and descending provides results in reverse alphabetical order.
Additional search information is available on the Help page.
