Who We Help

Working for the National Park digging holesThe mission of the National Park Foundation is to strengthen the enduring connection between the American people and their national parks. The Foundation accomplishes its mission by making strategic grants, creating innovative partnerships and establishing special funds that enhance the national parks.

Working closely with the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation makes grants that establish and enrich the connection that our children, our communities and all Americans have with their national parks. The National Park Foundation is the only organization engaged in national grant making to support parks through programs and projects that meet the priorities and critical needs across our National Park System.

Boy holding plantThe African American Experience Fund of the National Park Foundation connects Americans from all walks of life to the considerable contributions of African Americans throughout our country’s history.

The National Park Foundation is the lead fundraising partner of the Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign, a national capital campaign to build a memorial honoring the passengers and crewmembers of United Airlines Flight 93 and their heroic and selfless acts on September 11, 2001.

America’s national parks are a favorite venue for any holiday. The National Park Foundation is committed to advancing educational and recreational activities that help visitors celebrate our nation’s heritage in their parks. The Foundation is proud to sponsor the lighting of the annual National Christmas Tree on behalf of all Americans.
