Even outdoor lovers like to shop. The Adventure Outpost, with its home store at the Big Bear Discovery Center is a 2,700 square-foot nature lover’s delight.

The Adventure Outpost has it all—maps; field guides; and books on hiking, biking, camping, stargazing, and skiing. Our Kids’ Department offers interactive games, puzzles, toys, stuffed animals and award-winning hand and finger puppets by Folkmanis.

Smokey Bear your thing? We offer the largest selection of Smokey products on the market including stuffed Smokeys of many sizes, Smokeys that talk, hand puppets, clothing, and hats and gifts.

Whether it’s a cool T-shirt or a warm-weather sweatshirt you’re looking for, our clothing section features the season's best from Life is Good, Gear, Polar and other famous makers for the whole family.

Our unique selection of jewelry runs the gamut from animal motif stretchy bracelets and Native American bead bracelets and necklaces to elaborate sterling silver pieces.

The Serrano tribe of Native Americans were native to our area so we feature a wonderful collection of Native American music and gifts.

Watching HGTV when you’re not hiking? Our Housewares Department features beautiful candlesticks, bookends, bowls, wreaths and other decorative items, plus kitchen accessories in cozy cabin/nature themes.

The View Cafe located within the Adventure Outpost, serves up freshly baked pastries, 100% organic coffee, and the tastiest wraps, sandwiches, and salads. Dine inside or out and enjoy one of the Best Views in Big Bear Valley.

The Adventure Outpost has a smaller outlet at the Children’s Forest Visitor Information Center open weekends only.

Simply register using your driver's license or utility bill showing residency in Fawnskin, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, or Sugarloaf.
