  Technology Department

The Technology Department offers a variety of services to support faculty, staff, and students in several areas: teaching, research, public service, and administration.

Getting Help

  • The FBCC Technology office is located were the Administrative wing meets the Hidatsa Hall in Room 23.  Telephone and Walk-in support hours for the Faculty/Staff Help Desk will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Computer Labs

FBCC supports 15 Computer labs spread throughout the Main campus and satellite campuses.  All labs have by default the following list of software. Microsoft 2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access), Adobe Reader, Shockwave, Flash, Real Player, QuickTime Player, Goggle Earth, Firefox, Netscape.  Technicians are available from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday to assist instructors, repair equipment, and fulfill requests for additional equipment.

Need Help with Your College Accounts (Computer, E-mail, Blackboard)

  • Computer Log-in information.

    • Faculty & Staff accounts are created for new employees after the employees supervisor summits a  network account request.  The new user may then visit the Technology Office to setup a password and complete a brief orientation.
    • Your Student account is during registration.  Students should visit the Technology Office for a brief new user orientation and receive their username & password.  Students are also introduced to their various accounts during Student Orientation which occurs the first week of classes.
    • All users granted access to the FBCC Network resources are regulated by the FBCC Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Web-Mail (e-mail).

    • New students automatically receive and e-mail account at registration.    Students should check their e-mail at least once a week for college announcments.
  • Blackboard Accounts

    • All Students, Staff, and Faculty receive a Blackboard account.  Your Blackboard username is the same as your computer or e-mail username.  Passwords are sent by default to the users birth date.   (i.e. 09091980).  We recommend that you change your password regularly. Wireless Access

  • FBCC deploys wireless connectivity throughout all of its campuses and remote sites.  Wireless connectivity is provided via the 802.11a and g spectrums. 802.11 g is backwards-compatible with 802.11 b. Printing is not currently supported for guests.  Use of the campus wireless services is governed by the FBCC Acceptable Use Policy.  For more information about campus wireless access, contact the Campus Help Desk at 701-627-4738 x 270

  • Marquee - FBCC utilizes 2 LCD Marquee in the main lobby and in the Internet Lounge and a Web marquee on the FBCC Home page to alert the college community to important dates, events, news and closings. For more information contact Mike Stevens at (701) 627-4738 x256.
  • Blackboard Announcements - FBCC also posts important dates, events, news and closings in the Blackboard System for our online students . For more information contact Mike Stevens at (701) 627-4738 x256.
  • Emergency Closings due weather are also aired on KXMX TV Channel 13, KMHA 91.3 FM, and the local cable information channel 11 (Blue Channel).

Student & Staff Personal Computer Repair.

Technology Work Order Requests

  • If you have a computer problem that requires hands-on service by an FBCC technician, you can submit a work order through the Help Desk.
  • Response Times: We handle work orders on a first come, first served basis. As such, it can be difficult to predict exactly when any particular work order will be completed. Please bear with us, especially during busy times like the beginning and ending of each academic quarter.
