August 27, 2007

TUPELO, Miss. -- Chris Berryman has been named regional development specialist on TVA’s economic development staff in Mississippi.

Berryman will work with distributors of TVA power, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth. His responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, delivering financial and technical services, and helping communities support and grow existing businesses.

“We’re excited that Chris has accepted the position of regional development specialist in TVA’s North Mississippi service area,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “Chris’ talents and economic development experience will be beneficial as we continue to support our distributor customers, the region, state and communities in developing new businesses and expanding existing ones.”

Berryman began his career with TVA in 2003 as a field specialist for the Middle Tennessee region. He coordinated and provided support for community level economic development organizations to bring new business and expand existing industry in Middle Tennessee. He provided TVA programs and services to economic development groups and communities in 18 counties, as well as the private and public sectors.

Prior to working at TVA he was executive director of economic development for the Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce in Bolivar, Tenn.

Berryman has a master’s degree from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Berryman succeeds Tim Weston, who has assumed a new role as TVA’s manager of regional development field operations for the seven-state Valley region.

TVA, working with distributors of TVA power, Valley communities, regional and state economic development partners, helped retain or attract some 53,000 jobs in the fiscal year 2006 and leveraged investments of $4.2 billion in our region. Economic development is a major part of TVA’s core mission. More information about TVA’s economic development efforts is available at TVAed.com.
