TVA Names Two Lauderdale County Residents as Professionals of the Year

ATHENS, Ala. – TVA has selected two Lauderdale County residents, Gregory Peters and Robert Pitcock Jr., as professionals of the year at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant for exemplifying key values that help ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.

TVA named Pitcock, who lives in Killen, as Radiation Protection, Chemistry & Environment’s professional of the year and Peters of Florence as Maintenance Professional of the Year.

A 23-year TVA employee, Pitcock was recognized for his teamwork, dedication and flexibility, as well as for frequently helping with the training of co-workers at Browns Ferry.

“Robert consistently demonstrates his strong commitment to TVA, our site and the chemistry department,” said Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Vice President Brian O’Grady. “I thank him on behalf of the entire Browns Ferry team for the unselfish way his does everything he can to help ensure our plant operates safely and reliably.”

Peters, a five-year electrical maintenance employee, was recognized for his professionalism in all areas of plant work and for his willingness to always take the lead to do whatever it takes to complete a job safely and efficiently.

“I congratulate Greg on being selected by his peers for consistently exhibiting leadership and a steadfast commitment to working safely,” said O’Grady. “We appreciate the examples he sets for all of us in the way he performs his work at Browns Ferry.”

This is the sixth year of the Radiation Protection, Chemistry/Environment awards and the 16th year of the Maintenance Professional awards. The annual award winners are selected from quarterly winners.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
