Here at the University of Minnesota, research is our lifeblood. One of a handful of universities with colleges of agriculture, medicine, and technology on the same campus, we thrive on bringing together talented faculty from different fields to make fundamental discoveries in the biological and physical sciences, create new technologies, and find new treatments for disease.

Our unique resources include Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, the birthplace of modern ecology; the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, the only fluid mechanics lab in the world powered primarily by a natural waterfall; the National Science Foundation-funded MAST earthquake research center; and the Jane Goodall Institute Center for Primate Studies, which houses Goodall’s field records. Also, a collaboration between the University, the Mayo Clinic, and the state of Minnesota is generating new ideas to advance 21st century medicine.
