During the 110th Congress, I have authored and agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with our nation's tax structure. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to tax policy. You can view a comprehensive list at the Legislation Co-Sponsored Section of this site or through the Library of Congress Thomas site.
Legislation I've supported in the 110th Congress include:
- S. 1726, a bill to regulate certain State taxation of interstate commerce, and for other purposes.
- S. 1621, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1985 to provide tax relief and protections to military personnel, and for other purposes.
- S. 1546, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to treat gold, silver, platinum and palladium, in either coin or bar form, in the same manner as equities and mutual funds for purposes of the maximum capital gains rate for individuals.
- S. 1322, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to improve the operation of employee stock ownership plans, and for other purposes.
- S. 747, a bill to terminate the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, and for other purposes.
- S. 700, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide a tax credit to individuals who enter into agreements to protect the habitats of endangared and threatened species, and for other purposes.
- S. 502, a bill to repeal the sunset on the reduction of capital gains rates for individuals and on the taxation of dividends of individuals at capital gains rates.
- S. 374, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide the same capital gains treatment for art and collectibles as for other investment property and to provide that a deduction equal to fair market value shall be allowed for charitable contrituions of literary, musical, artistic, or scholarly compositions created by the donor.
- S. 170, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the excise tax on telephone and other communications services.
- S. 140, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the excise tax on telephone and other communications services.
- S. 91, a bill to require the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation to use dynamic economic modeling in addition to static economic modeling in the preparation of budgetary estimates of proposed changes in Federal revenue law.
- S. 55, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the individual alternative minimum tax.
- S. 15, a bill to establish a new budget process to create a comprehensive to rein in spending, reduce the deficit, and regain control of the Federal budget process.
- S. 14, a bill to repeal the sunset on certain tax rates and other incentives and to repeal the individual alternative minimum tax, and for other purposes.
- S.Res. 126, a resolution designating April 2007 as "Financial Literacy Month."
