During the 110th Congress, I have authored and agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with our country's educational system and policies. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to education. You can view a comprehensive list at the Legislation Co-Sponsored Section of this site or through the Library of Congress Thomas site.
Legislation I have supported included:
- S. 1325, a bill to amend the Act of July 3, 1890, to provide for the granting of a State of a parcel of land for use as an agricultural college and to proscribe the use of earnings and proceeds thereof.
- S, 779, a bill to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000.
- S. 644, a bill to amend Title 38, United States Code, to recodify as part of that title certain educational assistance programs for members of the reserve components of the Armed Forces, to improve such programs, and for other purposes.
- S. 348, a bill to improve the amendments made by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
- S.Res. 205, a resolution designating June 2007 as "National Internet Safety Month."
Other actions I have taken to support Idaho education include:
- Received support from the National Education Association regarding my legislation to improve the No Child Left Behind Act. To read the letter, please click here (word document).
- Sent a letter to the Labor-HHS Subcommittee on Appropriations, requesting adequate funding for Impact Aid Programs for FY2008, Please click here to read the letter (PDF file).
- Requested that appropriators preserve funding for the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education program, which prepares many students in Idaho for career and post-secondary programs. Please click here to read the letter (PDF file).
