3) Do I get UCTV on my local cable system?
A complete list of UCTV’s availability on cable is on our cable page. Although our aim is to make UCTV available 24/7 on cable in every city, many local cable channels show UCTV programming for only limited time slots. If you would like to see more UCTV on your local cable channel, contact the local channel directly or, even better, call your cable provider and request that they add UCTV to their cable lineup. You can also let us know by filling out our UCTV Supporter Form or send us an email.

There are many other ways to watch UCTV and you can find them all at our Where to Watch page.

4) Can I order a DVD or videotape of a program?
Visit our secure online shop to purchase DVDs or VHS copies of UCTV programs where you can browse and purchase videos and have them shipped directly to you. You may also place your order by fax, mail or telephone.

A 30-minute program (VHS or DVD) costs $19.95 ($24.95 for anything over 30 minutes), plus tax (where applicable) and shipping. Payment can be made with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), or by check payable to UC Regents. The turnaround time is approximately 14 days for credit card orders, 14-20 days for checks.

Please note that not all videos are available for purchase due to copyright limitations. We are happy to research your request and will let you know if we are able to sell you a copy of the show, or try to refer you to the copyright holder who may be able to provide you with a copy. (For example: UCTV is unable to sell tapes of any shows originating from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). However, many UCSB programs are often available for sale at their website.)

Keep in mind that the fastest and least expensive way to access our programs is through our searchable archive of free online videos. If you need help locating a program of interest, feel free to contact us directly and we will do our best to help you.

5) How can I find out more information about a particular show or speaker?
Our website provides descriptions and background information for most programs, including links to other UCTV programs with the speaker and related topics. We also do our best to include links to the website(s) of the sponsoring organization, department, or speaker.

We are unable to give out direct contact information for guest speakers beyond what is available at our website. However, most of the speakers that appear on UCTV are public figures and, with a little research on the internet or the telephone, you are likely to have success in reaching the speaker or someone else who may be able to provide you with more information. We recommend you begin by contacting the department of the host UC campus. If you need further assistance, please contact us directly.

6) When will a particular program air again?
Most of our programs air multiple times throughout the week and/or month. To find out when a particular program will air again, visit our online schedule where you can browse up to three weeks in advance. You can browse our online schedule by date, see what's airing this week in a specific subject, and find programs airing from each UC campus. If you are having trouble locating a program, please contact us and we'll try to help.

If you missed a particular program on television, you may find it in our online videos and podcasts archive for easy on-demand viewing. You can also make sure to never miss another program by signing up for our monthly e-mail newsletter or subscribing to one or more of our RSS feeds, available by subject area or series. You can also subscribe to UCTV on iTunes U Beyond Campus.

7) Can I get a printed program guide?
There is no printed program guide available. However, you can obtain the entire UCTV Schedule online up to three weeks in advance - complete with show descriptions, relevant links and multiple air times. You can browse our online schedule by date, see what's airing this week in a specific subject, and find programs airing from each UC campus.

You can also stay up to date with what’s new by signing up for our monthly e-mail newsletter or subscribing to one or more of our RSS feeds, available by subject area or series. You can also subscribe to UCTV on iTunes U Beyond Campus.

9) How do I find out more information about earning Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit from your "Med Ed" programs?
Many UCTV medical education programs provide CME credit. CME credits are issued only by the program’s sponsoring UC campus. All correspondence, registration, and questions regarding credit must be communicated directly with the sponsoring campus -- UCTV cannot issue credit for CME courses.

To learn more about obtaining CME credits, visit our MedEd page, click on Programs with CME Credit Available, locate your particular program of interest, and follow the links for that program's CME availability.

10) How do I downlink UCTV programming via satellite?
UCTV is a non-commercial satellite channel, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on Dish Network (ch. 9412) and C-Band satellite. UCTV is available for “free-to-air” retransmission nationwide. Register here for more information and to receive satellite coordinates.
11) What are the requirements to retransmit UCTV's signal on cable?
UCTV’s “free-to-air” unscrambled satellite signal is available for retransmission on non-commercial channels nationwide. Affiliate channels must transmit the UCTV signal live as it comes off the satellite to insure that UCTV's promotional efforts are consistent at the local and national levels.

Although UCTV does not impose a "minimum air time" requirement, we strongly suggest that affiliates utilize our 3-hour thematic program blocks when incorporating UCTV into their local schedule to avoid cutting off any programs. View our 24-hour schedule and thematic program blocks.

12) Do you air programming from outside the University of California?
As one of the premier research universities in the country, the University of California is a valuable resource for the entire nation. Although UCTV's programming has broad appeal to a general audience around the world, our program content embraces the University of California's core missions - teaching, research and public service - and, therefore, all our programming has a connection to the UC system. Programs are either produced by the University or feature members of the University community - faculty, staff, researchers, students, or alumni.
