Web Browser Testing
The
HTML files for Healthy People 2010 on this Web site have
been tested in six different Web browsers, including text-only and
voice-enabled browsers, to ensure that Healthy People 2010 documents are accessible.
All
testing has been done with a full window open and the default font size. Changing either will affect the layout and
juxtaposition of some of the text and graphics, but will not change the text
copy itself. Tables may format
differently on the various browsers. In
some cases, fonts may substitute, depending on the settings of the browsing
computer.
These
browsers were tested: Internet Explorer v5.5, Internet Explorer v4.0,
Netscape v4.76, Netscape v4.51, Lynx v2.8.3 (text-only browser), and Simply Web 98 voice-enabled
browser. Test results appear below:
-
Each browser loads the files without crashing the computer.
-
Each browser scrolls successfully through the entire file.
-
The text of the files displays properly. However, there may be some minor formatting
differences.
-
Files can be printed from all of the tested browsers.
However, occasional printing errors may occur when printing from Netscape v4.51. Therefore,
we recommend that users upgrade the web browser to Netscape v4.76 or use Internet Explorer
v5.5.
In addition, to ensure the best results when printing, users may wish to upgrade the printer
driver to the manufacturer's most recent version.
Please note that if the user has a Web browser other than the ones tested, such as Netscape v4.08
(which is not fully compliant with HTML and CSS standards), and/or some of the features on our HTML
pages do not display or print correctly, we strongly suggest that the
user upgrade the browser as noted above. These browsers are also available free of charge on the Internet and may
be downloaded from the URLs below:
