Background of the FBCI

The Federal Faith-Based and Community Initiative (FBCI) was implemented in 2001. This section introduces the goals of the FBCI, provides background information, describes the governmental changes, and presents the results realized by this transformation within government. These efforts and activities point toward the overarching goal of making a positive difference in the lives of individuals in need, both at home and abroad.   

Introduction—provides detailed information about the FBCI.

Federal Implementation—describes the 11 Centers that serve to implement the FBCI vision and their ongoing impact on the policy of 10 Federal departments.

Significant Milestones —a historical timeline outlining significant events, conferences, and FBCI-related reports.

Key Reports—FBCI reports that describe and underscore the innovations implemented by faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) to address human need as well as the work of the FBCI to facilitate these efforts.

2008 National Conference—this conference presented many of the results of the FBCI implementation. Includes video of key FBCI stakeholders as well as links to new reports released at the conference.

Regulations—a summary of the 16 regulations finalized by the 11 FBCI Centers, with links to the full text of each regulation.

Press Room—fact sheets and quotes from speeches and events highlighting government policies and activities that reflect the implementation of the FBCI.
