Targeting Human Needs

The Faith-Based and Community Initiative is empowering faith-based organizations and other grassroots service providers to address the needs of their communities.  Over the past 7 years, the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the Agency Centers it oversees have worked to strengthen both faith-based and community organizations and to extend their work in partnership with government.  This section provides highlights from presidential speeches and actions, reports on FBIC-related events, describes the regulations implemented by the FBCI, and more.  

Innovations in Effective Compassion Conference Video and Resources
This section includes videos of keynote remarks at the conference as well as a listing of resources made available at the Conference.

Presidential Speeches
This section includes key quotes from presidential speeches as well as a link to more speeches related to the FBCI.

Executive Orders
The President signed five executive orders associated with the FBCI and a table summarizes the key actions associated with each order.

Key Regulations
11 Centers have finalized 16 regulations that are described in summary with links to the full text of each regulation.

Compassion in Action Reports
White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives convened monthly Compassion in Action Roundtables that are described here in reports intended capture and highlight unique and innovative approaches to addressing critical social needs.

Quiet Revolution Report
This report offers a comprehensive analysis of the successful implementation of President Bush's vision to reshape government's approach to addressing human need.

Fact Sheets and Press Releases
The President has had many occasions to highlight government policies and activities that reflect the implementation of the Faith-Based and Community Initiative through fact sheets from events from the past seven years.
