Tickborne Diseases Can Be Difficult to Diagnose and Treat

Format: Web Site
Institute: National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

Tickborne diseases are becoming a serious problem in the United States. Lyme disease is the most prevalent tickborne infectious disease in the country, and several other bacterial diseases and parasites can be carried by ticks and spread to humans. Often, the diseases can be difficult to diagnosis and treat.

NIAID has added a new section to its Web site that provides an overview of the diseases carried by ticks and links to more detailed information for specific diseases.
