A librarian (and former English instructor) could help you with any of the following:- Find a research topic or a focus that fits your assignment
- Help you to begin looking for information
- Teach you how best to find the information you need
- Organize that information into a structured paper
- Explain those pesky documentation and citation formats

- When does the Clinic usually begin and when does it usually wrap up?
The Term Paper Clinic usually begins the Monday (or Tuesday, depending on holidays) the second week of class; it finishes the Friday of Dead Week. The Term Paper Clinic is traditionally not held during the week of Thanksgiving Break and the week of Spring Break.

Please Keep in Mind
- The Term Paper Clinic does not offer proofreading or help with writing difficulties.
If a student has difficulties with writing, s/he should make an appointment with a tutor at the Center for Writing Excellence located in the Department of English; call 293 – 5788 or visit the Writing Center web site for more information. - Help with writing theses or dissertations is beyond the scope of the Clinic.
- For assistance by email, use the Ask-a-Librarian service.
- Instructors cannot bring their classes to the Clinic. The Clinic is a needs-based tutoring service offering individual assistance.
However, if you’d like for your class to get an introduction to a Library’s resources, you can schedule a library instruction session with a Reference Librarian. S/he will meet with your class in an electronic classroom and show them how to use the Libraries’ resources effectively. Call the appropriate Reference Desk phone number listed at the top left side of this page to schedule an appointment.
