People

The Institute acts as a supporting institution for a community of poverty researchers that includes affiliated faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at other U.S. universities. It provides administrative, programming, and editorial services through a small permanent staff, publishes a series of scholarly papers and a poverty research newsletter, and manages and facilitates conferences and workshops. IRP and its UW faculty affiliates provide training and support for graduate students in the social sciences. IRP affiliates and staff have also managed and participated in many experimental evaluations of social welfare policies and programs.
