The Robert J. Lampman Memorial LecturePrevious Robert J. Lampman Memorial Lectures This lecture series was established in honor of Robert Lampman, a professor of economics at UW–Madison for over 30 years, founding director and guiding spirit of the Institute for Research on Poverty. The lecture, featuring eminent U.S. poverty scholars, is intended to address topics to which Lampman devoted his intellectual career: poverty and the distribution of income and wealth. This memorial has been established by the Lampman family, with the help of the University of Wisconsin Foundation. The lecture series, organized by IRP in cooperation with the UW–Madison Department of Economics, offers a special opportunity to maintain and nurture interest in poverty research among the academic community and members of the public. The Lampman Memorial Lecture for 2008 was: What Does it Mean to be Poor in a Rich Society?
