2009 National EPLO Workshop Presentations
PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP The 2009 National Joint EPLO Workshop "Partners in Preparedness" provides a joint forum to promote unity of effort in Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) between DoD and its interagency partners across the preparedness spectrum of prevent, protect, and respond. Participants will gain knowledge of current DOD and interagency policies, processes, and procedures and current and future initiatives concerning each. Conference speakers and panelists are elected officials, government and military officials, and leading Subject Matter Experts from DoD and government at all levels. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in forums that will address a broad range of topics that will discuss current and proposed changes in statutory authorities and policies affecting DSCA, as well as promoting unity of effort during DSCA operations. There will also be ample opportunity to improve professional relationships and collaboration by networking with the distinguished group of conference attendees. OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP The National Joint EPLO Workshop will provide continuation training, equipment maintenance/upgrades, and administrative actions for Service EPLOs. EPLOs facilitate support to their assigned organizations to plan and execute DoD support to (1) prevent and protect against all domestic hazards and (2) plan and execute DoD support to respond to a domestic disaster. This is accomplished by providing a Joint/Interagency (Federal and State) forum to share lessons learned, best practices, and to strengthen core competencies. WORKSHOP DATES This year the National Joint EPLO Workshop will start on Sunday, March 15 and end on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. In conjunction with the Workshop, the Services may conduct additional Service-specific training before or after the Workshop dates. Please contact your Service representatives for Service-specific training activities. The Workshop agenda and Service-specific agendas are posted to this site (see top right section). Please check this site regularly for updates. The calendar below provides an overview of the activities planned for each day.
