Significant National Weather

West:
A developing low pressure system will move into Washington later today producing lower elevation rain and snow.  A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Friday night through Sunday morning for central Montana, southeast Idaho and Utah.  Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible and north winds may become gusty producing some areas of drifting snow.  Winter Storm and Blizzard Warnings are in effect for portions of Washington and Oregon for heavy, blowing snow.  A High Wind Warning is in effect for northwest California and northwest Nevada.
Midwest:
Cold air moving over the western Great Lakes will bring moderate snowfall to northern and western Michigan and northwest Indiana.  A Winter Strom Watch has been issued for western and central North Dakota for heavy snow and winds over 35 mph.
South:
Much of the South will see sunny to partly cloudy skies and seasonal temperatures.  A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for eastern Kentucky. A zone of heavy snow has developed across the middle of eastern Kentucky. Total snowfall accumulations from 3 to 5 inches are expected before the snow tapers off later this morning.  Several Flood Warnings in effect for rivers throughout the region.
Northeast:
A major winter storm will move through the region bringing rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow. Areas from central New York, through northern Vermont to western Maine could receive 6 to 12 inches of snow by this afternoon.  Coastal areas will receive heavy rain totaling 2 to 3 inches.  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of the Northeast through Friday afternoon.  Flood Warnings are in effect for rivers in Delaware, New Jersey and New York. Tropical Weather Outlook

Tropical Storm 27W passed south of Guam yesterday morning and at 11:00 p.m. EST, was located 290 miles west of Guam moving west at 12 mph.  No storm damage or injuries were reported on the island. (NOAA, HPC, National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center)
