Significant National Weather

West:
A low pressure system will move through the Pacific Northwest, producing heavy rain and the possibility of flooding in the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.  The highest elevations of the Cascades may see up to 2 feet of snow while lower elevations may see 1 to 8 inches of rain of in various locations.  Showers will spread eastward into Idaho, western Montana and northern Nevada later this evening.
Midwest:
A low pressure system centered over Kansas will produce wintry precipitation for much of the region. Expect a combination of rain, sleet, or snow from northeastern Nebraska to Wisconsin. The western High Plains will see a mixture of rain and snow.   Tonight, rain showers will spread eastward into the Great Lakes and eastern Ohio Valley. 
South:
The frontal system extending southward from the low in Kansas will produce rain and thunderstorms from Missouri to southeast Texas.  In southeast Texas, severe thunderstorms will produce strong winds, large hail and the possibility of tornadoes. 
Northeast:
Under high pressure the region will have generally partly coudy skies. The lake effect snow showers around Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are expected to dissipate later today. (NOAA, National Weather Service and Various Media Sources)

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic/Caribbean:
A weak area of low pressure, the remnant of Tropical Depression Paloma is nearly stationary about midway between the north coast of Cuba and Andros Island.  Re-development of this system is not
expected due to strong upper-level winds.
Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
Eastern Pacific:
No tropical cyclone formation is expected during the next 48 hours.
Western Pacific:
No current tropical cyclone warnings. (NOAA, HPC,  National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center)
